Amina Anekwe

Undergraduate Intern
Amina Patricia Anekwe is an Intern at Perseus Strategies. Prior to joining the organization, she conducted research with the Homeplace Research Collective, contributing to community-engaged research that centers the lived experiences and brilliance of Black children and their families. She also co-leads the Democracy Research Initiative’s Reproductive Rights Team, contributing to research and analysis on legal and policy frameworks shaping access to reproductive healthcare. In addition, she serves as a youth representative on the GrassROOTS Community Foundation’s Menstrual Equity Council, supporting community-based advocacy efforts. Amina graduated from New York University’s College of Arts and Science with a B.A. in Sociology and English. A lover of language in all its forms, she is a Presidential Honors Scholar and Truman Scholar, and a recipient of the U.S. Department of State’s Critical Language Scholarship for Mandarin Chinese; she is also fluent in Spanish. She served as a 2025-6 Civic Fellow at NYU’s Changemaker Center. The daughter of a Jamaican mother with Nigerian roots, Amina is passionate about advancing equity at the intersection of public health and public policy. She hopes to build a career focused on eliminating reproductive health disparities and expanding access to care for women and girls globally.
