Juan Carlos Gutiérrez is Counsel at Perseus Strategies. Prior to joining the firm, Juan Carlos served at Cremades & Calvo-Sotelo Law Firm as Director of the Human Rights Department, practicing strategic litigation on human rights before universal and regional human rights protection systems. He has been an adviser to States and NGOs and is a Barrister before the International Criminal Court, where he represents victims of atrocity crimes. Juan Carlos is President of the Human Rights Institute of the World Association of Jurists and a member of the Advisory Committee of the Human Rights Section of the Madrid Bar Association. He graduated from Santa María University in Caracas and served as a District Attorney and Judge of the Criminal Court in Venezuela. He is member of the Venezuelan and Colombian Bar Associations and the Bar of the International Criminal Court. He is based in Madrid, Spain, and works with Perseus Strategies by mutual agreement on a case-by-case basis.
